EASTER ROSS LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

A 4 hour late afternoon + early evening landscape photography tuition workshop course on the Easter Ross Peninsular in the north of Scotland.
From £99 to £149 per person.
DESCRIPTION
We will meet in one of the car parks in Portmahomack.
From the car park we will walk along the shore to Portmahomack harbour. After about 45 minutes or so we will drive the short distance to the car park close to Tarbat Ness Lighthouse.
This workshop is limited to a maximum of 5 participants (a minimum of 3 at the £99.00 rate), if you would prefer it can also be run on an exclusive one-to-one basis for £149.00.
You will learn how to look beyond the obvious to see different compositions of the Robert Stevenson lighthouse at Tarbat Ness, how to choose the correct tripod height to avoid a leaning lighthouse and much more. There is some amazing geology here, mostly eroded Devonian Upper Old Red Sandstone, creating superb foreground interest.
Hopefully we will get clear skies after sunset and maybe even a display of the Nothern Lights/Aurora Borealis.
We will cover the following topics to improve your images and the enjoyment of your photography; composition, how to read light, the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO, hyper focal distance, depth of field, shooting RAW, the histogram and anything else you may wish to learn or cover.
Ideally you will have a digital SLR or mirrorless camera with a wide angle and a standard to medium telephoto zoom (or prime) lenses, plus a tripod. Filters including a polariser would be useful and solid neutral density (ND) filters are essential if you wish to capture long exposures.

Fitness Level
A reasonable level of fitness is required as there is some scrambling over often slippery rocks but we stick to the marked paths at Tarbat Ness as it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
What is included?
All tuition and advice during the afternoon/evening is included.
What isn’t included?
Travel to and from Scotland and between the 2 locations (easier to follow in your own vehicle), personal travel insurance, protective clothing, food and drink (Portmahomack has the Carnegie Hall and the Castle Hotel), camera equipment inc. tripods.
