ABOUT

Hello, I’m Mark, welcome to my landscape photography website MarkMyPixels.

I have over 35 years experience in the photography world having worked as Technical Manager for Kyocera-Yashica UK in the 1990s with their Contax cameras and Carl Zeiss lenses.

I left Kyocera for a (promised) dream job, running the competition department of a car suspension company. The less said about this, the better, but I made enough contacts to start doing freelance photography work for a number of motorsport companies and racing teams.

The motorsport photography work really took off in the early 2000s, having gone totally digital at the start of the new millenium, with clients such as Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Ford, MG Rover, Pirelli, Kumho, Hankook Tyres, Eddie Stobart, Global Brands (Steve Perez/Vodka Kick) and Jardine International. I was also the official photographer for the ANCRO National Gravel and National Asphalt Rally Championships, Mitsubishi Evo Challenge, Ford Fiesta ST Sporting Trophy, Peugeot Challenge, MG ZR Cup, Rallye Sunseeker, Manx National Rally, Roger Albert Clark (RAC) Rally, Tour of Cornwall and the Goodwood Festival of Speed Rally Stage. Editorial work included the regular supply of images to publications such as Autosport, Motorsport News, The Sun, Pacenotes, Australian RallySport, Czech Rally and many other regional UK newspapers and magazines.

Many of my motorsport images featured a landscape rather than just a car filling the frame
but I had never specifically shot a digital landscape image until 2010.

After more than a decade of shooting motorsport professionally, I discovered that I enjoyed photographing landscapes more than cars and this became my main ‘focus’.

I used the name Electric Lemonade Photography for the landscape photography business, offering tuition workshop courses and photo tours, becoming known as ‘Mr Lemonade’ thanks to Jon Cuff (formerly) of Robert White and Lee Filters!

Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition

My image of Sturminster Newton Mill in Dorset was commended in the 2013 Landscape Photographer of the Year (LPOTY) competition.

It featured in the exhibition at the National Theatre on London’s South Bank and also at Moors Valley Country Park in Dorset. I was interviewed on BBC Radio Solent, harder than you would think having to describe an image live on the radio! My commended image was also published in the Landscape Photographer of the Year book edition 7 and the 10 year Special Edition as well as the popular LPOTY greetings cards. ‘Stur Mill’ was also featured at the BBC Countryfile Live show at Blenheim Palace near Woodstock in Oxfordshire, that one image certainly opened plenty of doors for me.

My main photography influences are Joe Cornish, David Ward, Paul Wakefield, Julian Calverley, David Noton, Mark Littlejohn + Guy Edwardes,
I also love the long exposure work of the Italian photographers Francesco Gola + Vieri Bottazzini.

My professional photography work took a back seat for a few years while running a successful Bed + Breakfast business on the Isle of Skye.

Now based in Cornwall, I am offering various landscape photography workshop courses for 2026. Please click here for full details.
