CAITHNESS COAST LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

A full-day landscape photography tuition workshop course on the Caithness Coast. Ideal if you are touring the far north of Scotland on the NC500.
£199 per person.
DESCRIPTION
This workshop provides an excellent variety of subjects with only short drives between locations. There are spectacular views towards Orkney over the Pentland Firth, huge Fulmar and (in summer) Puffin colonies, quaint fishing harbours and World War 2 sea defences.
The exact itinerary will be based on weather conditions, time of year etc. but locations will be chosen from - Stacks of Duncansby, John o’ Groats (if you insist!), Dunnet Head (in Puffin Season), Dunnet Bay, Sinclair’s Bay, Freswick Bay, Noss Head, Castle Sinclair Girnigoe, Keiss Castle + Castle of Old Wick.
This workshop is limited to a maximum of 3 participants to maximise the potential of each location without overcrowding and also to avoid damaging the habitats.
In addition to visiting these stunning locations we will cover the following topics to improve your images and the enjoyment of your photography; composition, how to read light, the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO, hyper focal distance, depth of field, shooting RAW, the histogram and anything else you may wish to learn or cover.
Ideally you will have a digital SLR or mirrorless camera with a wide angle and a standard to medium telephoto zoom (or prime) lenses, plus a tripod. Filters including a polariser would be useful and solid neutral density (ND) filters are essential if you wish to capture long exposures.

Fitness Level
A reasonable level of fitness is required as there are a few steep hills, cliff edges and slippery rocks, but none of the locations are more than 45 minutes walk from where we park.
What is included?
All tuition and advice during the day is included. Transport from Wick or alternative agreed meeting place to all locations and return.
What isn’t included?
Travel to and from Scotland, accommodation, personal travel insurance, protective clothing, food and drink, camera equipment inc. tripods.
